Hello. My name is Kris and I'm obssesed with Pirates. My story begins when I was just a little girl. At that time I thought that I was only obssesed with Disney, but my heart knew better. I had a certain passion for the movie Hook and not because of the amazing skateboarding Roofio but because of Dustin Hoffman's amazing portrayal of a man I had once feared. I loved the clothes, the danger and of course...the booty. Now, there is a slight gap between this movie and my first realization of my obssesion. A few years ago, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Black Pearl came out. Now I have grown up wathcing Johnny Depp grace the screen. Beginning as far back as Edward Scissorhands, and then there was Gilbert Grape, and Crybaby etc. In other words this obssesion has nothing to do with Johnny Depp. *cough*
I didn't go to the movie in theaters. Instead, I watched it at a family gathering in the basement by myself. That christmas I received the VHS as a gift. I was in love. There was so much tooo love! The adventure, the costumes, the makeup, the ships...and of course...gold. I began memorizing lines, wearing excessive amounts of eyeliner (still do), buying piratey things. So far I have collected quite a few trinkets. I have a massive poster of Jack Sparrow on my wall, several coiny necklaces, the medalion from the first movie...etc.
The obssesion has also spilled over into my academic life. In highschool, I wrote my senior research paper on Pirates. I got an A. I continue to obsses. This summer I counted down the days until POTC - DMC came out. I bought tickets to the 11:59 pm show on July 6th. I actually saw the movie before it came out....technically. I dressed up. I wore a loverly shirt bearing the tasteful saying "Sparrow's Wench", large amounts of necklaces and bracelets, more eyeliner than usual, a skirt (gasp!) and cute sandals.
And now..drumroll please... there are seven torturous until Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest is released on DVD. Huzzah! And then after that, there are 6 ish excruciating months until Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End comes out in theaters....sigh...must sign up for that wonderful email that tells me when I can buy tickets....
And last but not least....There is a Day, a beautiful day, called Talk Like a Pirate Day. For three consecutive years I have celebrated said day (September 19th). You really should try it, its wonderful...Although my professors suggested I wear a more tasteful shirt next year...(I wore my Wench shirt again...oops I forgot that I go to a Christian college....we aren't allowed to be whore's here).
Alas me hearties...there be too few hours in the me day to think about Pirates...

I, too, am a fan of the pirate. Once, I had a blogger tell me that he always imagined me as a pirate. I have had an internet crush on him ever since. Shhhh. He doesn't know.
You're silly
