Happy Halloween

Today is All Hallow's Eve... I decided to do a little research on this infamous holiday.
If first started at Hallowe'en, derived from All Hallow's even or the the eve before All Saints Day (Aka All Hallow's Eve). Another name for this holiday, commonly used in Ireland, is Pooky night.
This pagan holiday began in Scotland and Ireland and its said that this day is when our dead ancestors came back to their homes and reside for a night. Some people would leave out a glass of wine for refreshment. Oh and it is also said that magic is the most powerful on this night because of the spirits
This is the drawing I did on
the board outside my dorm room...
None of this is quite as interesting as what I excpected it to be. When i was little I envisioned witches flying across the moon and vampires coming out of dark alleys to feed. A little gruesome maybe...but Macbeth has corrupted me...(Double Double Toil and Trouble...*cackle*) At my church we called it Reformation Day. We would celebrate (instead) Martin Luther and the church would have us wear biblical themed costumes to church and the older kids put on games...usually fruit was our winnings. Yeah kinda screams BORING! I also remember my mom telling me that I was too old to trick or treat when i was like 12. I didn't get to do any fun costumes, like a witch or pirate. I was a dog one year, a cat, a nurse, a princess, oh and once i was a lion when i was really little. I don't remember any other ones...but i do remember being jealous because my best friend always got to do cool ones and go into to town to trick or treat. I had to stay in the section and get icky fruit from the neighbors...
I was taught that Halloween was a 'bad' holiday...My mom always told me that it was...and i had to give my candy to my parents after trick or treating....they would give me some if i was good...ugh... Halloween sucked...

Every time I read something about Martin Luther, I fall asleep. I was in college before I realized that he wasn't married to Coretta.
